June 2011

As the weather heated up it was back to the Heritage Centre for Supercar Sunday as we kept the children entertained whilst their dads marveled at all the cars on display.

We also managed to squeeze in a Family fun day called “The Big Day Out” up near Manchester.

May 2011

It would seem that April’s purpose is to give us a rest as we were rushed off our feet in May.

First we helped out at a charity evening to raise money for Troops Relief (www.troopsrelief.com) The heroes welcomed the guests and posed for photos during breaks in the performances.

We also appeared at a couple of charity football matches. The first was at Derby County FC where The Stig did a solo stint. This was followed by an appearance at Chesterfield FC. Both games were great fun - local footballing legends versus an array of young soap actors (of which admittedly I knew only a few). For more info about what they do got to www.charityfootball.co.uk

So THATS where the Death Star plans were!

A few of us also found time to help out at a parade in Alderly Edge. It was a short walk through the town centre along with other organisations. We ended up at a local park where we posed for photos and helped judge a fancy dress competition.

April 2011

I say it every year – April is always a quiet month, don’t know why. No events this month.

We did gain a few new members though, Dean with his awesome Kick-Ass costume and Jeff with another excellent Vader.

March 2011

We were back at Memorabilia in March. The Heritage Centre kindly loaned us an original vehicle from the Judge Dredd movie and we set up an area for photos alongside.

The Judges were very popular again this weekend along with the horror characters. We had quite a few celebrities stop by for photos too.

February 2011

During february we launched the “sci fi at the movies” exhibition at the heritage motor centre

The exhibition features original and replica props/costumes from a host of different films and will run until september. Hollywood heroes will be appearing at a number of special weekends during its run.

The collection belongs to club member Luke Kaye who has been collecting all kinds of sci fi paraphernalia since he was young(er) and you can find out more about him here

The exhibition has been a huge success and thousands have already passed through the heritage centre’s doors to take a look around.

We also took time out to support a charity night at oscars restaurant in newcastle under lyme. Guests had their photos taken with Darth Vader, stormtrooper and princess leia to help raise money for the local junior school.

January 2011

There were no costuming events in January but we did have our third Xmas/New Year party. This time at Blunsdon House in Swindon where we had our very own sit down meal and disco.

Everyone attending received a special commemorative mug and we partied hard till the early hours of the morning!
