December 2010

Too cold for costuming!

As the country ground to a halt due to freezing temperatures and snow, so did we! No events this month - it was far too cold!

November 2010

Just when you think the year is winding down along come another four events! We started by promoting the release of The Force Unleashed 2 in Burton.

Then it was up to Magna again for Time War – Big 10 a doctor who themed event raising funds for Children in Need.

Towards the end of the month we made another appearance at the winter Memorabilia show at the NEC where we were allowed to display a jeep used in the Tomb Raider movies – kindly loaned to us from our friends at the Heritage Motor Centre Museum in Gaydon (http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk) .

We closed the month by helping at a charity fundraising dinner for Aerobility (http://www.aerobility.com) where we helped them raise over £82,000 on the night!

October 2010

The weather got colder and we headed back ‘oop north’ to Magna in Rotherham to help out our pal Rich with his Movie Day. Leatherface made his debut and member Ben got to take some great shots of us in action.

A couple of weeks later and we were back at Thinktank in Birmingham for BICS an international comics show. We put on a great display and got to rub shoulders with Mr. Jonathan Ross!

We rounded off a busy month appearing at a Halloween party in Swindon and Fright Night in Sheffield – the UKs largest Halloween event.

September 2010

Back to school, and the heroes headed down south to London, where a special screening of The Empire Strikes Back was put on for those talented people in the special effects profession.

Outside the hotel we were bombarded by the paparazzi. Inside, a live video linkup gave us the opportunity to chat to Antony Daniels, Harrison Ellenshaw and Denis Muren.

August 2010

It was time to help our friends at the fair again, this time up in Huddersfield. New member Paul made a terrific impact as The Stig and we raised £150 for the charity pot.

He is Iron Man!

We also returned to Dalton Park for a Super Hero weekend. Iron Man and the Power Rangers were joined by Batman, the Joker and the Batmobile!

Holy long queues Batman!

July 2010

Serenading each other

July started with a great little event at St Mary’s School in Maidenhead. Glorious weather, combined with a hilarious post-event barbecue made this a memorable day!

Later in the month several members and their better halves went on the first (of no doubt many) summer social outings – canoeing up the River Severn. Much hijinks ensued as each couple tried their best to sabotage the progress of the others and eventually returned home tired and sunburnt!

We also appeared at MacFest, an annual festival of music and dance to raise funds for two residential MacIntyre schools which provide intensive living support and education to young people and adults with moderate to severe learning and physical disabilities.

June 2010

We kick-started June by doing a week of Star Wars costuming up in Wakefield at the Ridings shopping centre.

We set up an impressive display of Jabba, the speederbike and some other full size props. Then a few members rotated through various costumes over the week and were joined by more members on the final Saturday.

Together we raised over £200 for our charity pot.

Later in the month we helped out at Sanity Fair – an event organized to raise awareness of health issues and to promote well-being. We also found the time to help out at a Fun Day at St James School in Wollaston.
On your marks....

We returned to the Heritage Motor Centre…twice! For their yearly Porsche Show at the start of the month and at the end for Supercar Sunday. Blisteringly hot – again! And despite watching the England v Germany match we all had a great time!

New costumes to the club this month included a purr-fect sixties Catwoman and Ghost from the popular Modern Warfare videogames.

May 2010

As soon as our April “holiday” was over we jumped straight back into a Robot Wars event down in Brentwood. All involved had a great time and one particularly talented Stormtrooper was captured on camera dancing!

We also helped out a the Macmillan Cancer Fun Run and made it into the local paper http://www.birminghammail.net/multimedia/news/video/2010/05/02/birmingham-mail-fun-run-2010-97319-26361623/

Towards the end of the month we dropped in at Ridgewood School again to help their Fun Day – it was a red hot day, but that didn’t stop us from putting on a show for the locals.

New costumes to the club included a Jedi Knight and the Stig!

April 2010

For reasons we can never fathom, April has always been a quiet month for us costuming wise. There were no events organized for this month, which gave our members time to rest after such a busy time at Memorabilia and to get back to work on some new costumes and props.

New costumes to the club included a scary Doctor Who Scarecrow and an awesome Dark Knight Batman!
